House Price Indices: Fact or Farce?

It seems every 5 minutes a new "house price index" is published and commented upon in the news. All however are varied in the data they use. The acquisition methods used to generate the data – and the results - can be very mixed to say the least depending on the source, be that a mortgage provider, a government agency, an insurance company, surveyors, construction companies, a bank or indeed a property company.

Our new poll is to find out from you, the property buying public whether you take property indices seriously and if you think they are useful to you as a buyer, seller or investor when it comes to making decisions about property.
