The latest data published by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has revealed that the UK's commercial property sector is experiencing mixed success. In London, the market is performing better than many other regions in the country.
Simon Rubinsohn, chief economist at the organisation, commented: "Within the capital, it is the office sector which has enjoyed the most pronounced recovery." He went on to add that this is not expected to filter down to regions outside the city.
Investors appear to be seeking out office developments, the RICS figures show, with surveyors reporting that such properties in London are being targeted by "the greatest volume of investment funds". One bright point for the country is that tenant demand has risen across the board.
Last month, director of Property and Finance Solutions Darren Owen noted that investors with available capital are buying assets because there are "some cracking deals around". He added that professional landlords are taking the opportunity to expand their portfolios while the market is low.
