Kelham Island in Sheffield is the new home of a boutique student accommodation development. Known as Dunfields, the project is being launched by Knight Knox International, in partnership with award-winning architects Coda Studios. Now open for offers, it comprises 18 townhouses and offers 80 students affordable, private accommodation, designed to a high standard.Units include an exclusive rooftop garden and patio, while each room will be individually designed by Coda interior designer Julie Poulter. This will ensure students can access more personal accommodation and a truly boutique concept of student living.Overall there will be 46 double rooms, 36 single rooms and 18 private car parking spaces that will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Individual townhouses will comprise four or five en-suite bedrooms and a communal floor with kitchen, dining and lounge facilities. A central park area will also act as the point around which the townhouses are grouped and will contain five pieces of outdoor gym equipment or an area for residents to socialise. With approximately 48,000 students in Sheffield, it is likely demand will be high for these properties. Situated just a ten minute walk away from Sheffield town centre and within 200m of a tram stop, the accommodation is also ideally located for students commuting to either the University of Sheffield or Sheffield Hallam University. What's more, the townhouses are designed to achieve a Code 3 on the Code for Sustainable Homes, meaning that energy bills will be reduced for the development. This further enhances the appeal for investors, who will better be able to maximise their rental income.Plans have also recently been submitted to Sheffield Council for a new development on King Street, the Postcode Gazette reported. Guy Illingworth is hoping to convert a former gym into a 26 bedroom complex over two floors, with 13 bedrooms for post-grads and a new gym on the first floor.
