Existing home sales decreased 2.1 percent in May, the first month of sales ineligible for the home buyer tax credit, but prices overall inched upwards. Gains were seen most strongly in the West, and the South; sales held steady in the Midwest, but were sharply lower month-on-month in the Northeast.
