Fund Managers Cautious About Property Equities

By - Tuesday 14 September 2010

Fund managers are remaining cautious about the prospects of property equities, it has been claimed.

The news is reflective of the property market dependence on the scale and sustainability of the economic recovery, with the outlook for the rest of the year unclear.

According to Standard & Poor's (S&P) Fund Services review, the sector has seen sluggish fund performance during the first six months of 2010.

The organisation claims that although property markets saw some recovery at the start of the year, this has been, regionally, very uneven.

Susan Sworn, lead analyst at S&P Fund Services, said: "This has been particularly true of the residential market, where developing markets have been strong while developed markets have lagged. However, within this, the US looks to be on an improving trend."

The report shows that over the course of 2009 there was a clear variation in performance of a number of regions, markets and sub-sectors.ADNFCR-3415-ID-800061651-ADNFCR
