Acquiring real estate is one of the best investment opportunities left in 2010, it has been claimed. An article for personal finance website Helium has claimed that property is currently one of the most lucrative options available.
Current conditions in many global housing and lending markets mean that investing in property is now "more attractive than ever". Indeed, the site explains that any return is likely to be more substantial than profits from any competing form of investment.
In particular, Helium recommends that potential buyers look to take advantage of the US property market where mortgage rates are at their lowest point for 50 years and home prices have dropped to well below their peak values.
"The year 2010 has seen the lowest mortgage rates in more than a half-century and a buyer's market in real estate, making it a great time for investing in property," the article explained. "Individuals with reasonably secure employment and minimal debt are unlikely to find a better way of investing their money than buying a home or rental property in the near future."
