Commercial Investment to Grow in Americas Region

By - Monday 20 December 2010

Activity in the commercial sector in the Americas region is set to rise significantly in the coming year. Jones Lang LaSalle reports that volumes in 2010 are likely to be up by at least 90 per cent compared to 2009 levels.

The 2011 total is projected to increase by a further 40 per cent over 2010 levels, the property consultant added.

However, overall sales volumes are expected to be heavier towards the end of the year as investors look to digest pricing trends and to work out fair value at the start.

International investors, who have avoided the market difficulties of the past few years, are now looking to return to the US market. Buyers from Germany, the UK, Korea and Japan are searching for stable, well-located assets in quality markets.

Prospects in Latin America, particularly Brazil, will continue to brighten for investors, Jones Lang LaSalle added, with the environment ideal for a move to landlord-favoured markets.
