Asia Dominates Investors' Thoughts

By - Monday 17 January 2011

Worldwide investors continue to look to Asia and emerging markets for the best returns, a new survey has found.

F and C Investments revealed that 41.7 per cent of respondents to its latest Question of the Month named the region as the best place to put their money. A further 14 per cent of respondents backed Latin America to perform strongly, while nine per cent went for various emerging markets.

However, the UK and North America have also gained favour over the past year, the firm added.

Support for Europe, excluding the UK, dropped from around 12 per cent to just seven per cent, while Japan saw confidence in its markets fall even further, with just 2.3 per cent backing it compared to 6.7 per cent in the 2009 survey.

"It is interesting to see investors feeling a little more bullish about the US and UK, although perhaps unsurprising that Asian and emerging markets continue to be the most hotly tipped," said Mike Woodward, head of Investment Trusts at F and C Investments.
